Stop what you’re doing and go take a look at the ingredients in your shampoo. No idea what the words mean? Yeah, I didn’t either. It is so important to be aware of what you put in your hair. Shampoos and conditioners are full of harmful chemicals that will seriously damage your hair, also known as sulfates. What are sulfates? Sulfates are a variety of ingredients that include commonly used foaming agents that lead to moisture loss in hair. Not only do they dry out your hair, but they also cause premature color fading if you have color treated hair.
Cue the sulfate-free shampoo. I’ve noticed my hair has drastically improved since I started paying attention to what I really use on my hair. I don’t color my hair, but I still notice a difference in the overall quality of my hair. I’m currently using a line from my salon (pictured above).
Sulfate-free shampoo is not hard to come by, with lots of companies coming out with more and more “natural” lines. I am noticing an increase in sulfate-free shampoo at my local drugstore as well as Ulta.
