Some of my favorite Pinterest and Tumblr accounts are filled with beautiful old candle jars used for everyday purposes, like a makeup brush holder. I finished burning some of my favorite candles, but I couldn’t bare to part with them! Here is the most effective way to give your candle a second life.
1. After you finish burning your candle, you will be left with a little bit of wax. Place your candle in the freezer for about an hour.
2. The low temperature will cause the wax to loosen up, which makes it easier to take out of the jar. Use a knife (preferably dull) to remove the wax.
3. The wax should pop right out of the jar! To remove the wick, use a pair of scissors.
4. Use baby oil to remove any residue. 5. Rinse with warm, soapy water. Voilà!

I like to pour boiling water in the jar which melts all the wax. The wax rises to the top of the jar and when the water is cold, it sets in one solid block, which is then easy to remove. It’s fail-proof.
